Our History
My name is Dennis Kastrup. I am a journalist, podcaster and storyteller.
I have always been interested in people. I have enjoyed listening to other people's stories since I was a child. This passion led me to journalism.
Over the past 25 years, I have conducted around 1,500 interviews with scientists, politicians and artists, including Lady Gaga, Tori Amos, Lenny Kravitz, Kylie Minogue and Adele. I have written articles for German magazines such as Spiegel Online and Tagesspiegel and now work for public radio stations in Germany and Canada. I speak fluent English and German as well as French.
Life writes the most beautiful, but also the saddest stories!
People are living and loving all around us, but unfortunately they are also dying. In the fall of 2021, a good old friend wrote to me: “I have cancer”. After the initial shock, he immediately said to me: "Can you record my life story? For my one-year-old son? I want to tell him as much as possible about myself." I didn't need to think for a second to realize how important this was to him. After that, we talked for several hours every month. Unfortunately, he died the following May. I then used these recordings to produce a one-hour radio feature for NDR called "Lieber Enno", which is addressed to his son. When he is old enough, I will play it to him and give him all the recordings. You can also hear my thoughts about the work on it in the podcast "The End" from the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting (RBB).
Every story is important.
When I talked about the very touching work on the feature, friends kept telling me that they too would like to record their stories so that their children and their children's children could later find out who their ancestors were and how they lived. Many of them told me that they would actually like to conduct these interviews themselves, but that they either didn't have the time or the skills to do so. For them, placing this task in the hands of others is the best solution.
That's how the idea for “Life Story Audio” came about. We offer you the opportunity to talk to me or other journalists so that you can tell us about your life:
About your childhood, your friends, your parents, your school days, starting your career, your great love,
your most beautiful moments, but perhaps also your saddest. We listen, ask questions and are looking forward
to set the exciting stories to music.
