Our Story

My name is Dennis Kastrup. I am a journalist, podcaster and storyteller.

I have always been interested in people. I have enjoyed listening to other people's stories since I was a child. This passion led me to journalism.

Over the past 25 years, I have conducted around 1,500 interviews with scientists, politicians and artists, including Lady Gaga, Tori Amos, Lenny Kravitz, Kylie Minogue and Adele. I have written articles for German magazines such as Spiegel Online and Tagesspiegel. These days I work for public radio stations in Germany and Canada. I speak fluent English and German as well as French.

Life writes the most beautiful and moving stories!

People are living and loving all around us, and all lives eventually come to their end. In the fall of 2021, a good old friend wrote me to say, “I have cancer”. After I got over my initial shock, he asked me, "Would you record my life story for my one-year-old son? I want him to know as much as possible about myself." I realized immediately how important this was to him. After that, we would talk together for several hours every month until he died the following spring. With his wife’s consent, I used my friend’s recordings to produce a one-hour radio feature dedicated to his son, called "Lieber Enno Enno("Dear Enno"). When Enno is old enough, I will play it to him and give him all the recordings. You can also hear my thoughts about my feature in the podcast "The End" at Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB).

Every story is important.

When I told my friends about this recording, they said they too would like to record their life stories so that their children and their children's children could remember them and how they lived. Many of them told me that they wanted to record these interviews themselves, but that lacked the time or the know-how to do it properly. For them, placing this task in the hands of a professional journalist would be the ideal solution.

That's how the idea for “Life Story Audio” came about. With this personalized service you have the opportunity to share with me or my colleagues anything about your life:

About your childhood, your friends, your parents, your school days, starting your career, your great love, your most beautiful moments (and perhaps also your saddest).

We listen, ask questions and then edit your stories with a background music you can choose.

We all have a story to tell. Some of us can write them down, but you will hear yours…set to music.

We all have a story to tell. Some become writers and others set them to music as audio books.
